Language expert to speak at Farmington Municipal Schools

UNM professor Vincent Werito will talk about ‘Immersion Principles in the Home’

Vincent Werito, Ph.D., will present “Immersion Principles in the Home” on Thursday, April 20, 5:30 p.m., at the Farmington Municipal Schools Board Room, 3401 E. 30th St.

Werito, an associate professor in the College of Education and Health Sciences at the University of New Mexico, Department of Language, Literacy and Sociocultural Studies, teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Indigenous and bilingual education, and educational thought and sociocultural studies.

Werito works with schools in New Mexico and around the nation to develop culture and place-based culturally responsive approaches to education for Indigenous youths as well as working with Indigenous communities in their language revitalization efforts.

The public is invited, and light refreshments will be provided.
