SJRMC, Rotary Club team up to host blood drive

San Juan Regional Medical Center and Farmington Rotary Club will host a two-day blood drive from 12:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday, March 27, and from 7:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, at San Juan Regional Medical Center’s Café La Ventana, on the hospital’s main floor.

There is a critical need for blood, and with the blood supply shortage hospitals are experiencing nationwide there has never been a better time to give, SJRMC said in a news release.

The drive will accept the traditional pint of whole blood and the Power Red double donation, which takes about 15 minutes longer than a traditional donation can help twice as many patients.

Donors must be at least 18 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. Appointments are required and are estimated to be about 15 minutes.

To register, visit www.vitalant.org, click “make an appointment,” enter ZIP code 87401 and click “find location.” Choose the correct dates from the calendar and scroll down to Farmington Rotary Club to select an appointment slot.
