The Montezuma County Public Health Department will host a Johnson & Johnson vaccine clinic on April 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The single dose vaccine is available for anyone age 18 and up.

Public information officer Vicki Shaffer said the department has 200 doses, and there are open slots for appointments.

“I know there are several people around that have been waiting for the Johnson & Johnson because they didn’t want to mess with two doses, so this is their opportunity,” Shaffer said.

While there have been some reports of minor adverse reactions to the Johnson & Johnson shot, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment announced Thursday that there is “no cause of concern,” per reporting from The Denver Post.

Shaffer said those concerned about a reaction should bring a snack or a drink with them to the clinic.

“We encourage anybody who has had reactions and who have allergies to just make sure they stay a little bit longer one they’ve got their vaccine,” Shaffer said.

Those interested can sign up by visiting www.montezumacounty.org and going to the coronavirus information page.

Individuals can also call the health department at (970) 565-3056.
