Forest Service to begin Lone Pine timber sales east of Cahone

Work is set to begin on Lone Pine project in late spring.

The Dolores Ranger District of the San Juan National Forest is gearing up for the Lone Pine Project, intended to increase forest resiliency, reduce the risk of severe wildfires and provide timber for commercial use.

Work will begin on 4,594 acres east of Cahone near Bradfield Reservoir between Forest Service Road 504 and Dolores River Canyon on the west, the Dolores district said in a news release. Timber sale activities are expected to start in late spring or early summer.

The Forest Service review, approved in February, determined that the timber sales would not significantly affect cultural, hydrological, range, recreation, scenic, timber and wildlife resources.
