A police officer was injured Thursday when a driver put her truck vehicle in reverse and pinned him against another vehicle during a stop in southwest Farmington.

About 2:15 a.m. Thursday, Farmington police officers responded to a call regarding a fight in the area of East Elm Street and Dekalb Avenue. One officer was injured when making contact with a suspicious vehicle, the Farmington Police Department said in a news release.

The vehicle reversed, pinning the police officer against another vehicle, and fled the scene. After a brief pursuit, officers lost sight of the suspect. Several minutes later, other responding officers located the vehicle driving at high speed.

When they attempted to stop the vehicle on Troy King Road, the driver crashed and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Additional charges are pending. The driver was also taken to a hospital for minor injuries, according to the news release.

The officer was taken to the hospital and was awake and alert with non-life-threatening injuries. This is an active investigation, and more details will be released as they become available.
