Durango man found dead Wednesday from self-inflicted gunshot wound

53-year-old man found in cabin near Electra Lake

A 53-year-old Durango man was found dead Wednesday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to La Plata County Coroner Jann Smith.

Mark Jungen was found at a family cabin near Electra Lake on Electra West Road, Smith said. He was also reported to have a Durango residence.

According to the police blotter, the call came in around 5:30 p.m. Smith said her office was notified around 8 p.m.

Jungen’s death marks the 14th suicide in La Plata County this year.
