Republican Don Coram will be serving another term as state representative for House District 58 after Tuesday’s election.

During his first term, the Montrose resident supported funding for broadband Internet access in Southwest Colorado, as well as projects like the Northern Integrated Supply Project that were designed to create more storage space for water on the western slope. Water and broadband were two of the main issues he focused on during this year’s campaign, in which he ran unopposed. On Tuesday he wound up with 100 percent of the vote, as more than 12,000 people cast their ballots for him in the district. In Colorado, Coram garnered 25,020 votes; in Montezuma County, he won 8,678 votes.

In addition to his normal duties as a representative, Coram has served on several committees to review specific state policies. This session he is on the House Agriculture, Livestock and Natural Resources Committee and the House Transportation and Energy Committee. According to his campaign website, he plans to spend his next term “studying the tough issues that lie ahead and working on meaningful legislation that will improve the quality of life for our district and all of the people of Colorado.”

Coram was first elected to the House District 58 seat in 2010. This will be his last two-year term before his term limit runs out.
