Colorado Highway 145 reopened after two vehicles collide

Two-vehicle crash involved injuries; rescue helicopter called to scene

Colorado Highway 145 has reopened following a two-vehicle crash east of Stoner, according to the Montezuma County Emergency Alert System.

The crash occurred at mile marker 32, between Stoner and the Bear Creek trailhead northeast of Dolores. The highway was reported closed at 6:45 p.m. and was reopened to both lanes of traffic at 8:19 p.m.

An initial report is that the crash involved two vehicles, and possibly one was pulling a horse trailer, said Trooper Josh Lewis of the Colorado State Patrol.

The vehicles involved in the crash were blocking both lanes of traffic as of 6:42 p.m. A rescue helicopter was dispatched from Durango. The extent of the injuries was not available.

The crash was called in at 6:18 p.m. Initial police scanner traffic indicated one person may have been trapped in a vehicle involved in the crash.

Multiple agencies responded, including Dolores Volunteer Fire Department, Rico Fire Department, Southwest Health System ambulance, Colorado State Patrol and Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office.
