County launches digital planning portal

Users can access applications, public documents

Montezuma County Planning Department has launched an

Users can upload planning and zoning documents, and permit applications, and they can submit them digitally.

The public also can view public notices and submitted land development plans under review by the planning and zoning board and county commissioners.

Planning Director Don Haley said the department has been working to implement the project since fall and launched the portal in March when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

“That was coincidental timing. People could continue to conduct business on the digital platform without having to come into the office,” Haley said. “It turned out to be a great benefit.”

Applicants will have to create an account, but citizens who want to review public records and development proposals do not need an account.

The portal system is more user-friendly than the previous system of accessing online public documents, Haley said.

It also gives users access to septic and environmental regulations and permits, addressing information, road and bridge requirements and driveway permits. The portal includes a property parcel search link.
