The city of Cortez announced that it seeks a volunteer to fill a vacancy with the Board of Adjustment and Appeals.

The board member will be accountable for yard area and lot coverage, hearing and deciding appeals, grant variances from flood hazard standards and to permit variance or modifications of structures’ heights.

The applicant should have some interest and knowledge about the land use code because that is the majority of information the board is presented with.

Meetings will be held when needed.

“I would say they meet maybe two times a year,” said City Clerk Linda Smith in an email.

According to a news release, candidates should submit a letter of interest via email at lsmith@cortezco.gov or to City Hall at City Clerk’s Office, 123 Roger Smith Ave, Cortez, CO 81321

The vacancy will remain open until filled.
