The city of Cortez is setting up areas set up for residents to recycle Christmas trees in the parking lot at the southeast corner of Elm and First streets and at the BMX parking lot on the south side of Empire Street.

The recycling efforts runs from Jan. 2-13.

From Jan. 3-13, city crews will pick up trees for residents who can’t drop them off. For pickup, make sure all ornaments, tinsel and trimmings are removed from your tree and place it at the curb in front of your house.

The trees will be chipped and used for mulch.
