City of Cortez names a new airport manager for first time in 41 years

Jeremy Patton has succeeded longtime Cortez Airport Manager Russ Machen.

New Mexico native Jeremy Patton has been named the new manager of Cortez Municipal Airport, succeeding longtime manager Russ Machen.

Machen served in the role for 41 years before retiring. Patton’s first day on the job was Jan. 7.

According to a press release, Patton has a background in aviation, trades and as a first responder. Patton and his wife enjoy spending time outdoors with their dogs and traveling when they get the chance.

“We are excited that Jeremy is on board to take over operations of the Cortez Airport and help it to grow in the future,” City Manager John Dougherty said. “We feel that Jeremy will be a great addition to our community and welcome him and his family to Cortez.”
