Booths available for annual Elks bazaar
Booth space is available for the Cortez Elks Lodge’s annual Christmas Bazaar on Sunday, Dec. 6.
The cost for the tables or space is $30, and the lodge provides the table.
The event begins at 10 a.m. and ends after Santa Claus leaves the building.
All proceeds from the tables are used for scholarships, food baskets and the Angel Tree for Christmas.

Farmers Union hosts annual meeting
The Four Corners Rocky Mountain Farmers Union will host “A Celebration of Family Farming and Ranching” during its annual meeting on Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Arriola Community Center.
Enjoy a home cooked turkey dinner for $9 per plate and free for children under 16. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., and dinner is served at 5:45 p.m.

FireWise hosts fire mitigation workshop
FireWise hosts a Mitigation 101 Workshop on Friday, Oct. 30 in Montezuma County.
Learn techniques and tools for selecting and removing unhealthy trees and overgrown brush, including instruction, demonstrations and hands-on learning.
The class includes training for small- and large-scale lots.
Cost is $25 for the public and $10 for FireWise Neighborhood Ambassadors. The workshop is limited to 25 participants.

Power outage planned for Mancos areas
Empire Electric Association has planned an outage that will affect members in the Mancos area including:
East of Mesa Verde entrance (Road 34989 on U.S. 160)
North to Road P on Colo. 184
Joe Moore Reservoir, Jackson Gulch, Chicken Creek, Echo Basin and Mancos Hill areas
East Canyon (south of U.S. 160 on Road 46)
Weber Canyon
South of U.S. 160 on Road 38.
The outage is essential for crews to perform maintenance and needed upgrades and the Mancos substation.
The 4-hour outage is scheduled to begin at midnight Friday, Oct. 23.
