BLM seeks public input on proposed oil and gas lease sale

The Journal

The Bureau of Land Management has scheduled a two-week public scoping period for input on 55 parcels of federal minerals proposed for a March 6 oil and gas lease sale. The public scoping period runs from Oct. 5 to Oct 19.

The process seeks input on issues, impacts and alternatives that the BLM should address in an environmental assessment to be in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act.

The parcels proposed for the competitive lease sale for New Mexico include 16 in Sandoval County, 14 in San Juan County, seven in McKinley County, one in Rio Arriba County and four each in Lea and Eddy counties. The parcels in Oklahoma include four each in Woodward and Dewey counties and one in Major County.
