Big Brothers Big Sister of San Juan County is recruiting adult and high school volunteers.

Research shows the children who participate in the program are 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs, 27% less likely to begin using alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 33% more confident in their school performance and 40% less likely to get arrested.

Adult volunteers participate in the community-based program where Bigs and Littles participate in activities in the community for four to six hours per month.

High school volunteers participate in the site-based program where Bigs meet Littles during or after school for one hour per week. Activities include educational games, homework or talking about dreams and aspirations.

To apply for either program, visit www.bbbs-cnm.org/about/san-juan-county or contact Neilson Francisco at Nfrancisco@bbbssjc.org.
