Authorities identify man killed in rollover crash

Crash happened north of Hermosa
Authorities identified the man killed in a crash on U.S. Highway 550 north of Hermosa on Friday as Reggie Hohenberg of Kirtland, N.M.

Authorities identified the man who was killed in a rollover crash Friday night north of Hermosa as Reggie Hohenberg of Kirtland, New Mexico.

The crash occurred at 6:05 p.m. near the top of Shalona Hill where County Road 250 connects with U.S. Highway 550, between mile markers 37 and 38.

Hohenberg, 39, was driving a 1999 GMC Sierra white pickup when he went off the side of the road, overcorrected and crashed. He was the only occupant in the vehicle, said Capt. Adrian Driscoll of the Colorado State Patrol.

He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and was ejected from the vehicle.

Driscoll said there is evidence that suggests Hohenberg was text messaging before the accident. His phone shows text messages being sent and received minutes before the crash.

“There was a stream of messages up until about six minutes before the accident,” he said.
