‘Allergic to double standard’ in RE-1

On April 20, the Cortez Middle School building leaders allowed a group called The Seven Project to use the gymnasium for an evening event. The goal of this organization is the religious indoctrination of students at public schools. This event was sponsored and organized by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

This event was advertised on the middle- and high-school Facebook pages with food fun, door prizes and faith. What wasn’t advertised was that this same religious group was allowed to do an assembly/promo – during instructional time – that students attended.

This was all done without any parental notification or consent. A lot of parents assume that an event held at public school cannot promote religion. However, legally any group can use school facilities as long as building leaders approve it.

According to the FCA Facebook page, 40 children got saved. From what? I don’t know.

For all the “parents’ rights” people, are we outraged by this or no? I guess some people’s outrage is selective.

It is parents’ right to decide if they want their children exposed to religion. It’s their students’ right to attend public school free from pressure or unsolicited invitations to attend after-hours religious events.

In contrast, both M-CMS and M-CHS students are no longer allowed to meet for lgbtqia+ lunch clubs. It’s my understanding that the M-CMS principal has instructed teachers they cannot show signs of support for lgbtqia+ students.

I need some benadryl because I am allergic to this double standard. Anyone else allergic?
