Wednesday, Dec. 29

3:10 p.m. Officers were involved in a high-speed car chase that ended near the 1600 block of Velma Street. The driver reportedly exited the vehicle and hopped a fence before officers arrived, which was indicated by fresh shoe prints in the snow. Drugs and paraphernalia reportedly were found in the car. When the suspect was found, he advised officers that he had a gun. Officers attempted to negotiate with the man before taking him into custody by force. He was served outstanding warrants and issued new summons for vehicular eluding, resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer, displaying fake plates, second-degree trespassing and careless driving.

Thursday, Dec. 30

1:31 a.m. A transgender suspect who self-identified as a woman was taken into custody on a warrant after being involved in a reported disturbance in the 2600 block of East Main Street.

10:17 a.m. A man was taken into custody on warrants in the 300 block of South Broadway.

5:12 p.m. A man was issued a summons for shoplifting after employees reported that he stole items from Walmart, 1835 E. Main St.

8:11 p.m. A man suspected that his sister stole items from their residence in the 700 block of East Second Street. The sister suggested that it might have been her young son. An officer asked the sister to follow up after speaking to her son.

Friday, Dec. 31

11:12 a.m. An intoxicated man reportedly resisted arrest while being taken into custody in the lower 100 block of East Seventh Street. He was issued summons for resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer and violating a protection order prohibiting him from drinking.

1:06 p.m. A man was taken into custody on outstanding warrants in the 500 block of East Main Street.

5:40 p.m. A woman reported that her daughter assaulted her in the 600 block of North Park Street. The daughter apparently possessed a stolen checkbook. The owners of the checkbook had reported them stolen. A warrant was issued for the daughter.

7:51 p.m. A man was taken into custody on warrants in the 600 block of North Park Street.

Saturday, Jan. 1

7:27 a.m. A woman reported that items were stolen from her car in the 400 block of South Cedar Street. There were no leads.

11:02 a.m. Someone reported that four aggressive dogs were at large in the 500 block of East Second Street. An officer stated that he would contact animal control after he observed that the dogs seemed neglected.

1:10 p.m. A woman reported that items were stolen from her car in the 400 block of South Broadway. There were no leads.

1:18 p.m. A woman was reportedly bitten by a dog at a park in the 2700 block of East Main Street. The dog and its owners left the scene immediately. An officer notified animal control. There were no leads.

Sunday, Jan. 2

8:54 a.m. An employee reported that a window was broken at the post office, 35 S. Beech St. There were no leads.

10:34 a.m. A man was issued a summons for careless driving after he ran a red light and collided with a vehicle in the lower 100 block of South Harrison Street.

12:54 p.m. A man reported that items from his vehicle were stolen in the 500 block of West Fourth Street. There were no leads.

4:31 p.m. A woman was taken into custody on outstanding warrants at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

7:13 p.m. A man and a woman were issued a summons for shoplifting at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St.

Monday, Jan. 3

12:31 p.m. A female driver reportedly rear-ended a male driver in the 800 block of North Broadway.

1:18 p.m. A man was issued a summons for careless driving after rear-ending a woman’s car.

2:09 p.m. A man was taken into custody on outstanding warrants in the 600 block of North Park Street.

10:13 p.m. A male driver reportedly hit and killed a deer in the 2700 block of East Main Street.

10:46 p.m. A man was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant in the 1500 block of East Montezuma Avenue.

Tuesday, Jan. 4

7:10 a.m. A man was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant in the 1200 block of East Main Street after he was reported for making a mess in a convenience store.

9:42 a.m. A woman was issued a summons for unsafe backing after her car hit a man’s car in the 500 block of South Madison Street.

10:50 a.m. A woman was issued a summons for unsafe backing when her bus collided with a post office box in the 1800 block of East Main Street.

11:29 a.m. A man was taken into custody on a warrant in the 100 block of East Carpenter Street.

6:45 p.m. A man was issued a summons for trespassing after violating a ban and entering Denny’s restaurant, 2059 E. Main St.

7:44 p.m. A man was issued another summons for trespassing after he returned to Denny’s restaurant, 2059 E. Main St., from which he had been banned.

Wednesday, Jan. 5

2:19 a.m. An intoxicated man was taken into custody in the 300 block of East Main Street. He was issued a summons for violating a protection order that prohibited drinking alcohol.

4:12 p.m. A man reported someone hit his car and drove away in the Walmart parking lot, 1835 E. Main St. There were no leads.

4:57 p.m. A man was taken into custody on outstanding warrants in the 1500 block of East Main Street.

6:19 p.m. A woman was taken into custody on outstanding warrants in the 400 block of South Broadway.
