9:42 a.m.: A deputy responded to the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St. in Cortez, for reports of threats made by an inmate during a jail phone call. The inmate told his girlfriend that his dad owed him or he was going to kill him. The father wanted charges pressed due to fear and past incidents. The inmate was issued a citation for harassment.
6:11 p.m.: A deputy responded to 27885 U.S. Hwy. 160 for a traffic accident where a vehicle drove off the highway into a fence. The deputy assisted a Colorado State Trooper by locating insurance and registration information before clearing the scene.
7:47 p.m.: A deputy responded to the Ute Mountain Rodeo at 30100 U.S. Hwy. 160 in Cortez for a reported hit-and-run in the parking lot. A witness saw a vehicle back into another vehicle and leave. The deputy located the damaged vehicle, photographed damage, issued a BOLO (“be on the lookout”) for the other vehicle and later found the vehicle at a motel, but made no arrests.
9:20 p.m.: A deputy responded to a residence on Road 27 near Dolores for a report of property damage. A bullet had gone through a living room window, curtain, TV and wall, allegedly after neighbors across the canyon were shooting for fun. The deputy investigated, spoke with both parties the next day and the neighbor agreed to replace the damaged property. No charges were filed.
9:22 p.m.: A deputy responded to the Montezuma County Fairgrounds at 30100 U.S. Hwy. 160 in Cortez for a reported disturbance. A man allegedly tried to fight people and threatening to shoot others. The man was arrested on a warrant.
11:42 p.m.: A deputy responded to the 14000 block of CO Highway 145 near Dolores for a traffic stop on a truck pulling a trailer that was weaving. The man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs or both, driving vehicle with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or more, failure to maintain a lane and driving motor/of highway vehicle when license under restraint. He was released to a sober party on a citation.
10:19 a.m.: A deputy responded to a residence on Colorado Highway 145 near Dolores for illegal burning during a burn ban and red-flag day. The man and was issued a citation for violating the burn ban.
8:40 p.m.: Deputies responded to a residence on Road 28 near Dolores for a domestic disturbance. The man, who had allegedly been drinking, left the residence and was pulled over. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
9:18 a.m.: A deputy responded to the 28000 block of U.S. Highway 160 in Cortez for a reckless driver complaint. The elderly woman driver was cited for weaving and paperwork was submitted for a driver's license retest. Her son drove them home.
12:12 a.m.: A deputy responded to a residence on Hawkins Street in Cortez for a scheduled security check and found a break-in in progress. Four people were located inside the unsecured residence and arrested on suspicion of first-degree criminal trespass. One man was also arrested on a warrant.
8:07 a.m.: A deputy responded to a residence on Colorado Highway 184 near Mancos for a reported break-in at a property with cut locks on sheds and a missing toolbox. Game camera footage showed a vehicle at the scene. The deputy located the vehicle at a residence in Mancos but lacked sufficient evidence for arrests at the time.
