Monday, May 4

3:13 p.m.: A deputy responded to the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office, 730 E. Driscoll St., for a report of suspicious packages. A woman said she had received multiple empty bubble wrap packages in the mail from an unknown address in New York. The deputy provided fraud prevention information. A man later reported a similar package that included a camera.

Tuesday, May 5

10:45 a.m.: A deputy responded to the Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., Cortez, for a remand. A man was taken into custody from the courthouse after allegedly becoming combative during a jury trial.

Tuesday, May 12

7:01 a.m.: A deputy responded to Road L and Road 29, Mancos, for a report of a reckless driver. Witnesses identified a woman as the driver of a van that ran a stop sign and nearly caused a collision. She was arrested on suspicion of DUI, driving without a valid license and careless driving and open container.

Saturday, May 16

3:17 a.m.: A deputy responded to North Washington Street and East Montezuma Avenue, Cortez, to assist with a DUI investigation. A man was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

10:40 p.m.: A deputy responded to Love’s Truck Stop, 7006 U.S. Hwy. 160, for a hit-and-run report. A truck with a flatbed trailer struck a parked semi-truck and left the scene. Video was obtained but no license plate was visible.

Sunday, May 17

3:45 a.m.: A deputy responded to Denny’s, 2059 E. Main St., Cortez, for an unwanted person. A man was found sleeping in a booth and was arrested on a warrant.

10:54 a.m.: A deputy responded to a residence on CO Highway 184, Mancos, for a domestic disturbance. A woman reported her boyfriend threw rocks at her vehicle, shattering a rear window.

1:32 p.m.: A deputy responded to a residence on Road 24.4 for an open-line 911 call from a man who said he had warrants. The man was found hiding in a closet and was arrested on three warrants and two protection order violations.

Monday, May 18

6:32 a.m.: A deputy responded to a residence on Road 21 for an assault report. A woman allegedly struck her boyfriend in the head with a phone and caused significant damage inside the residence. She was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault and domestic violence.

9:42 a.m.: A deputy responded to the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., for a woman turning herself in on a warrant.

3:08 p.m.: A deputy responded to a residence on Road L.5 for a fraud report. A woman said her phone number was compromised and unauthorized transactions were made, though she was able to have them reversed.

Tuesday, May 19

7:16 a.m.: A deputy responded to Old Indian Route 201 near U.S. Hwy. 160, Towaoc, to assist the Bureau of Indian Affairs with a DUI investigation. A man was arrested on suspicion of DUID and was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wednesday, May 20

4:22 p.m.: A deputy responded to the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office, 730 E. Driscoll St., for a man turning himself in on a warrant.

Thursday, May 21

7:23 p.m.: A deputy responded to the 25600 block of Road N.6 loop to assist with a fleeing vehicle that crashed. A woman was detained by Cortez police after the crash.

Friday, May 22

11:05 a.m.: A deputy responded to the Cortez Police Department for a follow-up on a suicide threat. A woman reported receiving multiple messages from her ex-boyfriend threatening suicide. The man was advised to turn himself in.

9:09 p.m.: A deputy responded to the 17000 block of CO Highway 145 for a traffic stop. A woman was issued citations for expired number plates and no proof of insurance.

Saturday, May 23

12:42 a.m.: A deputy responded to the Baymont hotel, 2279 Hawkins St., for a hit-and-run. A man backed into a parked motorcycle, set it upright and left without reporting the damage. He was issued citations for unsafe backing, striking an unattended vehicle and careless driving.

11:52 a.m.: A deputy responded to the 13000 block of Road 40, Mancos, to assist with a two-vehicle crash.

Sunday, May 24

3:40 a.m.: A deputy responded to the 200 block of South Fifth Street, Dolores, for a bear getting into unsecured trash. A man was issued a citation for violating a town ordinance.

7:00 a.m.: A deputy responded to Road N and Road 29, Dolores, for an abandoned vehicle. A vehicle was found in a ditch with keys inside.

8:10 a.m.: A deputy responded to the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., for an assault in the shower area. A man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault after allegedly attacking another inmate.

7:50 a.m.: A deputy responded to Forest Service Road 527, Boggy Draw, for a burglary report at a camper. The male reporting party accused his girlfriend of the theft, but there was determined to be no suspects.

9:05 p.m.: A deputy responded to CO Highway 145 and Road M for a vehicle stopped on the wrong side of the road. A woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Tuesday, May 26

2:10 p.m.: A deputy responded to the Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., Cortez, to remand a juvenile into custody.

3:00 p.m.: A deputy responded to the Montezuma County Detention Center for a warrant. A man already in custody was served with the warrant.
