Friday, Nov. 14

3:15 p.m.: A deputy stopped a vehicle on Colorado Highway 145 and County Road R near Dolores for weaving and an inoperable driver-side rear tail/brake light. The man was cited for driving without a valid driver’s license and no proof of insurance.

Saturday, Nov. 15

7:34 p.m.: A deputy took a theft report from a man who discovered his hunting bag containing several knives and other items missing from the back of his truck while parked overnight on North Seventh Street in Dolores. There are no suspects at this time.

10:25 p.m.: A man arriving at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., via transport company was arrested on a warrant.

Monday, Nov. 17

12:57 p.m.: A deputy took a mail-theft report at the Yellow Jacket Post Office, 22009 Road 18, after a man discovered $1,000 cash missing from a deposit envelope that was returned with his check. There are currently no suspects.

5:44 p.m.: A deputy stopped a truck at Third Street and Railroad Avenue in Dolores after a reckless-driving report. The man was cited for no valid driver’s license, no insurance and expired plates more than 60 days. A Ute Mountain Ute tribal officer seized an improperly tagged cow elk in the truck bed.

Thursday, Nov. 20

8:25 a.m.: A deputy stopped a vehicle in the driveway of Cortez Apartments, 620 E. Empire St., after a woman turned directly in front of his patrol vehicle. The woman was cited for failure to provide proof of insurance.

3:45 p.m.: A deputy had a 1990 Chevrolet van with two bicycles towed as abandoned from Joe Rowell Park in Dolores, after it remained parked unattended for several days.

Friday, November 21

2:45 p.m.: Deputies assisted BIA officers pursuing a vehicle that fled through Towaoc and ended at a residence at on Green Cedar Lane. The man resisted while holding his young daughter but was taken into custody by BIA.

5:30 p.m.: A deputy responded to East Speedway, 2320 E. Main St., Cortez, for criminal mischief after a man walking along Highway 160 threw an object that damaged a passing vehicle’s emblem and sensors, with estimated damages over $1,000.

6:53 p.m.: A female inmate broke a posted bonding-information sign in booking at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St. She was issued a summons for criminal mischief.

7:29 p.m.: A deputy responded to 18600 block of Road G near Cortez for an unresponsive man in a running vehicle. The man showed signs of intoxication and was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

8:50 p.m.: A deputy pursued a vehicle that fled at high speed from County Road 12 and Road BB near Pleasant View after a reported domestic disturbance. The male driver crashed through two fences and was arrested on suspicion of DUI, vehicular eluding, reckless driving and driving while restrained.

Saturday, Nov. 22

1:33 p.m.: A deputy took a phone report regarding a man who paid $15,500 for landowner elk tags for unit 71/711 but received incorrect unit 72 tags. The man said he didn’t accept the tags since they weren’t what they had agreed upon.

5 p.m.: A deputy stopped a vehicle near U.S. 160 West and Road G for an unreadable rear plate. The man was cited for no proof of insurance.

4:42 p.m.: A deputy provided cover at Safeway, 1580 E. Main St., Cortez, after a woman attempted to strike a man with a vehicle during a domestic disturbance. The woman was arrested by Cortez Police.

Sunday, Nov. 23

10:31 a.m.: A deputy stopped a vehicle on Road G near U.S. Highway 160 for a defective brake light. The woman was cited for driving without a valid license and no proof of insurance. The vehicle was towed.

1:57 p.m.: A deputy conducted a welfare check at a residence on U.S. Highway 491 on an elderly man with dementia whose wife was hospitalized. The family arranged care and the case was forwarded to Adult Protection Services.

8:28 p.m.: A deputy stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of U.S. Highway 491, Cortez, for erratic slow driving and lane deviations. The man who switched seats after stopping was arrested on suspicion of DUI, no valid license, open container in a motor vehicle and failure to drive in a single lane.

Monday, Nov. 24

8:50 a.m.: A deputy posted a notice of writ of restitution at a residence on East Empire Street for an upcoming eviction.

2:26 p.m.: A deputy provided backup to Mancos Marshal during the arrest of a resisting man in the 400 block of North Oak Street in Mancos, and covered transport to the hospital for medical clearance and to the Montezuma County Detention Center.

5:47 p.m.: A deputy responded to a residence on U.S. Highway 491 near Pleasant View for trespassing. The man was arrested on a warrant.

Tuesday, Nov. 25

2:22 a.m.: A deputy responded to Southwest Memorial Hospital, 1311 N. Mildred Road, for a man bitten on the hand by an unknown medium-size white dog while checking his yard at Elegant Hills trailer park, 28300 block of Road K.2. The dog was not located.

11:10 a.m.: A woman was taken into custody on a remand order for failure to comply at the Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St.

2:05 p.m.: A deputy assisted at an injury two-vehicle crash at Monte Street and U.S. Highway 160 in Mancos. Colorado State Patrol and Mancos Marshal handled primary investigation.
