Mercy plans groundbreaking ceremony for hospice

For The Journal

Mercy Regional Medical Center and Mercy Health Foundation invite the community to celebrate the groundbreaking for the new Hospice of Mercy residence on Thursday, April 21, at 12:30 p.m. The ceremony, to include a site blessing and brief comments by hospital and Foundation representatives, will take place on an undeveloped plot of land in the parking area on the southwest side of the hospital at 1010 Three Springs Blvd. in Durango.

When complete, the 11,000-square-foot, eight-bed facility will occupy 1.3 acres that will include gardens and dedicated parking. The hospice residence, which is being funded through donations to Mercy Health Foundation, will be the first of its kind in the region. Facility elevations, interiors, floorplans, and landscaping plans for the $5.6 million facility will be on display. Light hors d’ oeuvres will be served.
