Cortez’s Public Works Department will temporarily interrupt water service to a section of South Cedar Street on Wednesday in order to complete a new water line connection.
Service will be unavailable from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for customers along South Cedar from Fifth to Seventh streets. The city said the work is part of ongoing system improvements and is required to tie in new infrastructure safely.
The city added that crews plan to finish the job as quickly as possible to limit disruption to homes in the affected area. Residents who will be in the area of interrupted water service are encouraged to store water ahead of time for drinking, cooking and other essential needs while water is off.
Once service is restored, the city noted that some may notice temporary discoloration or air in the lines. This is normal and can usually be cleared by running cold water for several minutes.
