Durango resident Ryan Elliott will compete for $1 million at the “American Ninja Warrior” national finals to be held June 13-18 in Las Vegas.

“American Ninja Warrior” is a sports entertainment television show on NBC. Contestants are selected from audition videos and must participate in a series of obstacle courses that test strength and dexterity. Those who complete the final courses move on to the national finals in Las Vegas.

Elliott, a skilled rock climber, is a case manager at Axis Health Systems in Durango and student in the University of Denver Four Corners master of social work program.

Efforts to reach Elliott for comment Friday were unsuccessful; he is, after all, a ninja.

NBC will air an episode of “American Ninja Warrior” on June 13 featuring Elliott competing in a regional competition held in Indianapolis.
