World Cup fans are falling for America’s charms

I just read an editorial by Jeff Bogle on BBC News that made me quite emotional. It shared tales of World Cup fans visiting our country and being gobsmacked by its many charms – from different cuisines to giant stores to local folks offering home-cooked dinners. Visitors are posting on social media their excitement at experiencing an America they seldom hear about.

As Charlotte Russell, a clinical psychologist, was quoted: “Many U.S. citizens have been feeling down on their country, and sad that their nation is seen in a negative light overseas. With the negative news in the run-up to the World Cup … seeing people actually enjoying the U.S. and its people feels more intensely joyful.”

You betcha.
