Weiser kicks off campaign for attorney general with summer tour

Phil Weiser plans to visit the Western Slope and northeastern Colorado in August during a statewide tour as part of his campaign for attorney general.

He plans to be in Cortez on Aug. 12 at The People’s Place, 215 E. Main St, from 1-2 p.m.

“In every county I have visited, I have learned about the challenges facing Coloradans in different communities,” Weiser said in a press release. “That is why I am focused on bringing high-speed broadband internet service to all communities, fighting for affordable health care, leading on sound water management, addressing the opioid epidemic and promoting high-quality, accessible education and economic opportunities in all parts of the state.”

Weiser plans to meet with local leaders, law enforcement officers and elected officials, to hear their concerns and share his vision for how the attorney general can ensure Colorado’s programs and laws take into account the needs of all resident.

In July, Weiser’s stops include Alamosa, Carbondale, Del Norte, Edwards, Frisco, Glenwood Springs, Ordway, Walsenburg.

In August, stops include Craig, Cortez, Durango, Fort Morgan, Grand Lake, Grand Junction, Greeley, Gunnison, Idaho Springs, Montrose, Pagosa Springs, Ridgway, Rifle, the San Luis Valley, Steamboat Springs and Sterling.

He also plans to campaign across the Front Range, Fort Collins to Pueblo.

Weiser, who lives in Denver, has worked as the dean of CU Law and in the U.S. Department of Justice.
