- M-CHS forfeits to Wellington
The Bears (1-1) nearly duplicated their week one comeback heroics, as they almost erased a 16-point hole to the host Buckaroos (3-0), but Monticello’s defense kept the Bears from taking the lead after DHS trailed by two touchdowns after the opening quarter. Dolores scored through the air three times, part of a 200-yard passing day for senior River Wickstrom – including a 65-yard strike to classmate Miles Brown to cut the margin to 24-21 – but the Bears rally fell short in the final minutes. Dolores hits the road again this upcoming Friday night with a trip to Rangely for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
A rash of injuries kept the Panthers (1-2) from fielding a varsity team for their scheduled meeting with defending 2A state champion Wellington on Saturday, meaning the Panthers are next in action when they kick off IML play against Pagosa Springs on Friday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m.

The Panthers (3-5-1, 0-1 3A/2A IML) played a series of matches, toppling Bloomfield in straight sets before losses to Farmington and Window Rock to close out the weekend. M-CHS takes on Pagosa Springs on Tuesday, Sept. 8 in Archuleta County to resume league play.
- Fruita Monument 2, M-CHS 1 – Friday
On their home field, the Panthers (1-2) had the visiting 4A Wildcats on the ropes for most of the contest. The Panthers struck in the first half through a goal from junior Degan Lake after a headed assist from classmate Lennart Kuhlmei. However, the ‘Cats rallied in the final 15 minutes, scoring twice to wrestle away the victory.
M-CHS will look to get back in the win column with a series of matches in Gallup at a tournament hosted by Rehoboth Christian over the weekend of Sept. 10 to 12. The Panthers open up action on Thursday against Miyamura.
- Dolores 1st at Antonito Night Invitational – Thursday

DHS gets set to take on a much larger field this upcoming Saturday, Sept. 12 when they make a return to the SLV to take on the field at the Joe Vigil Invite at Cattails GC in Alamosa.
While neither team posted a collective team score, the Mancos boys and girls both fared well at Loyd’s Lake in Monticello, where sophomore Carly Kroll won the girls race, and classmate Townes Morris took fourth in the boys race to pace the Jays. Freshmen Quorra Benally and Shannon Murphy took fourth and eighth in the girls race, and Cuinn Archer claimed tenth in the boys field. Mancos will join Dolores on their trip to Alamosa this weekend.

The Panthers will look to bounce back with a trip to Alamosa for a league crossover event that includes contests against Florence and Alamosa on Friday and Saturday.
