Farmington is a natural fit for RV travel. Its location makes it easy for travelers to explore the Four Corners, while the area’s lakes, rivers, campgrounds and public lands offer plenty of opportunities to get outside.
This fall, that appeal will bring several RV groups to Farmington, including national organizations holding conventions and rallies at McGee Park. Visit Farmington has been working with these groups in the months leading up to their visits, helping organizers find local services, connect with businesses and plan experiences that showcase what San Juan County has to offer.
Farmington offers a variety of camping experiences for RV travelers, from developed RV parks with full hookups to camping opportunities surrounded by the area’s natural landscape. Lake Farmington offers camping and year-round fishing within the city limits. The lake and surrounding area also provide opportunities for boating, seasonal swimming, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and bird watching. On the morning of Friday, Sept. 25, RV travelers camping at the lake will have a front-row view of the Four Corners Balloon Rally’s mass ascension, as dozens of hot-air balloons take to the sky.
McGee Park’s RV Park provides 574 RV spaces with water and electrical hookups, including 30- and 50-amp service. An additional 100 dry camping spaces are available, along with an on-site dump station. Its location also places visitors near the San Juan River and SunRay Park and Casino.
Sundowner Mobile and RV Park is just minutes from downtown Farmington, making it a convenient home base for exploring the area. The adult RV park offers 34 full-hookup spaces with 30- and 50-amp electricity in a quiet, shaded setting, with restaurants, shopping, attractions and other local amenities close by.
Together, these locations give RV travelers a range of choices while demonstrating something locals already know: there are plenty of ways to enjoy the outdoors without traveling far from home.
Organized RV groups are bringing travelers from across the country to Farmington for conventions, rallies and opportunities to explore the area together. RVing Women will hold its 2026 National Convention at McGee Park Sept. 22-26, bringing women RVers from across the country to Farmington for seminars, social events, entertainment, meals and opportunities to connect. Activities will include a welcome party, ice cream social and murder mystery event, seminars and closing banquet. Visit Farmington has worked with the organization to help prepare for the convention, providing information about local services, tours and activities and connecting the group with local businesses and organizations.
The convention will also include a free open afternoon for local women on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 1-4 p.m. Women age 18 and older can visit McGee Park to meet RVing Women members, browse vendors and learn more about the RV lifestyle. No convention registration is required.
The Cuatro Estados, a chapter of the Family Recreational Vehicle Association will host its rally in Farmington Oct. 2-4. The gathering will bring RV travelers together for time to explore the area and enjoy activities with fellow RV enthusiasts. Visit Farmington is also assisting this group.
For more than 20 years, the Rocky Mountain Motorhome Association has brought its annual Rocky Mountain chapter rally to McGee Park. This year’s rally will take place Oct. 7-11 and will feature a variety of activities, including group outings, social gatherings, educational sessions and local tours. Visit Farmington initially courted this event to Farmington in the early 2000s and assists the organization with catering options, information about the area, name tags, welcome bags and other details involved in hosting a successful rally.
While these details may seem small, helping organizers find local services and make connections with businesses allows attendees to have a better experience while creating opportunities for Visit Farmington members to benefit from their stay.
