Friday, June 6, was the 81st anniversary of D-Day. The day gallant men stormed the beaches of Normandy against Germany’s dug in massive firepower.
We veterans thought it was a good day to protest the Trump administration’s cuts to the Department of Veterans Affairs. Our protest was well advertised. We had a good turn out and many people drove by and honked their horns and gave us a thumbs-up.
A few drove by and gave us the finger. What kind of American, no matter what your politics are, gives vets the finger? I guess the ones who support a president who calls us suckers and losers. Those vets who didn’t show up, shame on you. There was only one man there from the Veterans of Foreign Wars, shame on the VFW.
No matter what your politics are, you should support our vets, we gave up years of our lives, sacrificed for you and many died for you. I hope those of you who gave us the finger and didn’t show up, think about that.
