UPDATE: Semitrailer rolls over south of Cortez, backs up traffic

Woman taken to Southwest Memorial with minor injuries

A semitrailer on Wednesday morning rolled over on U.S. Highway 160 about 4 miles south of Cortez, backing up southbound traffic.

The Cortez Fire Protection District, Cortez Police Department, Southwest Memorial Hospital and Colorado State Patrol responded to the crash.

A female driver was taken to Southwest Memorial Hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries, according to Cpl. James Proctor, of the Colorado State Patrol.

A dog was also in the cab of the truck at the time of the accident and was not injured.

One lane of the highway was blocked near County Road F.5 for about 20 minutes until 11:40 a.m., the Colorado Department of Transportation said. The Colorado State Patrol initially asked civilians to stay back because “The wires are still hot.”

The semitrailer was carrying clothes and food.
