It is often said, “Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel.” That is appropriate, as I often see American flags flown in the same display as support for “Trump 2024.”

I believe that those two sentiments are actually at cross purposes. If you support the United States, the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law by flying the symbol – the American flag – then it is impossible to support a man who is totally selfish, does not support the rule of law, does not support the Constitution and wants to destroy democracy.

Anyone who denied the outcome of the 2020 election and tried to stop the certification of that election by leading an insurrection on the U.S. Capitol in an effort to remain in power, has proven he is unfit to be president.

Therefore, any expression of support for that person is not a patriot and does not deserve to fly the U.S. flag.
