Mancos, Dolores and Dove Creek’s latest results

Last Friday the Mancos Blue Jays took a handful of distance runners to compete in The Pueblo Twilight.

In the massive meet under the lights of Dutch Clark Stadium, each Mancos runner finished with season-best times.

Ro Paschal (4:26.78) finished third in the 1,600, Adrian Hernandez (4:47.03) finished 32nd, Jake McKie (4:56.19) was 41st and Caleb Yoder (5:13.22) finished 62nd.

And then in the 3,200-meter run, Simon Kearns (10:25.82) finished 26th and Teslin Stecher (11:17.42) was 50th.

On Saturday, the Blue Jays, Dolores Bears and Dove Creek Bulldogs all competed at the Terry Alley Invitational in Pagosa Springs.

Asa Kearns continued the Blue Jays’ success in distance events by placing fifth in the 3,200 (12:08.47), Griff Huver took second in the long jump (18-11.25), Caden Galloway was eighth in the high jump (5-1) and the 4x1 team of Griff Huver, Nic Huver, Scottie Sword and Andrew Christensen ran a season-best 47.82 to place sixth.

The Lady Jays were led by Emma Most’s second-place finish in the 3,200 (13:32.24), Kaylee Rose (2:36.65) and Jessalyn Bay-Voit (2:51.09) were fifth and seventh in the 800 and Faith Asnicar finished eighth in the shot put (26-3.75).

Dolores freshman Aryelle Wright won the 200-meter dash (26.77) for the Lady Bears, and she also took third in the 100 (13.38).

And then Cameron Elder was seventh in the 200 (29.85) and Josie Bernholtz finished fifth in the 400 (1:07.04).

The Lady Bears’ trio of hurdlers also had top-eight finishes.

Larissa Umberger was third in the 100-meter hurdles (17.70) and Shavargus Noyes (18.54) and Sierra Schwartz (18.59) finished seventh and eighth.

In field events, Umberger finished sixth in the long jump (15-1.5) and Noyes was sixth in the high jump (4-3) and eighth in the triple jump (30-0.75).

The Dolores boys were led by Tristen Medina, who finished second in the 300-hurdles (43.19) and fourth in the 110’s (16.81), just ahead of Cael McHenry who finished fifth (17.68).

Other top finishers were Phillip Hufman, who took eighth in the 1,600 (5:41.17), and Forest Pejsa, who placed sixth in the discus (114-4).

Dove Creek had three top-eight finishes.

LaRissa Randolph (55.80) and Madilyn Hankins (56.10) paced the girls team by finishing seventh and eighth in the 300-hurdles, and Spencer Gatlin was the lone scorer for the Bulldogs, taking fourth in the shot put (38-11).
