The Region 9 Economic Development District of Southwest Colorado has awarded Tom White, a commercial lender with Bank of the San Juans, with their inaugural Lender of the Year award.White, who started his career in 1975 when he moved to Southwest Colorado, was recognized for collaborating with Region 9 on loans where additional equity was needed to make a loan work.White has been a banker his entire career and has worked in Durango and Pagosa Springs. He and his wife, Frankie, raised three children and have one grandchild.“White was selected due to his professionalism and longevity working with Region 9 to meet the needs of his clients,” said Laura Lewis Marchino, executive director of Region 9.The award criteria was established by Region 9’s Loan Committee which includes 12 members: two from each of the Region 9 counties and 2 at-large. The criteria includes: referrals, professionalism of the lender, and community impact.This is the first of these awards that will be presented annually.
