Thought-provoking meets wacky at Purple Fox Conundrum

Tickets sell out to inaugural production in Mancos

Hundreds of brave souls trekked through the fields of Sacred Song Ranch this past weekend for the first-ever production of the Purple Fox Conundrum.

The “Intrepid Travelers” who ventured out were met by some kooky travel agents, Preacher Siri, a giant chair, and of course the wily purple fox, among many other unique characters and creations from local artists.

This first event was highly successful, said Sarah Syverson, one of the event’s organizers.

“To have a strong collaboration with that many local artists was powerful and it will be interesting to watch what collaborations and inspirations are born out of the experience for those involved and for the almost 500 Intrepid Travelers that came through,” she said.

The Mancos event, modeled after Meow Wolf in Santa Fe, featured a mile-long path with various theatrical and art installations along the way. It asked participants to consider the role of technology in their lives today and how modernity interrelates with the natural world.

The event sold out about a week before the event took place. Those looking to keep up with future happenings are invited to follow the Purple Fox Conundrum Facebook page.
