There is a Coordinated Election coming up on Nov. 5, 2013 that will have school-district candidates, three special districts participating and a couple of state questions included on this ballot
There have been a lot of changes to the election process in Colorado since the passage of House Bill 1303. All elections in Colorado will now be mail ballot elections (with a few exceptions) and Vote Service Polling Centers (VSPC) are places where a voter can go for assistance for a variety of reasons.
Reasons a voter may visit a VSPC include:
To drop off thir voted mail ballot.
To obtain a replacement for a lost or spoiled mail ballot.
To register to vote.
To vote an in-person paper ballot.
To vote on an ADA accessible machine.
In Montezuma County they’re required to have one early-vote location and three locations on the primary Election Day and on Election Day for the general election. These centers will have all ballot styles, and they will be able to assist the voter in all areas such as registration, addresses changes, party affiliations changes, or any other need a voter may have.
Important dates to remember for this upcoming coordinated election:
Oct. 15, 2013 is the first day to mail ballots.
Oct. 28, 2013 is the last day to register to vote online.
Nov. 1, 2013 is the first day the ballot drop-off location will be open, which will be in the Montezuma County Clerk’s Office 140 W. Main, Suite 1, Cortez from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 9 a.m. to noon for ballot drop-offs.
Ballots must be received by the clerk’s office by 7 p.m. Nov. 5, 2013 in order to be counted.
Be sure your voting information is correct, especially your residence and mailing address so you will receive your ballot. You may also check your registration status, register to vote, or make changes to your voting record online at www.govotecolorado.com.
