Thank you for helping stage and report candidates forum

Thank you to city staff, Four Corners Board of Realtors and The Journal.

On Thursday evening, Oct. 11, Cortez City Hall hosted a candidate forum for the Colorado State Senate District 6 candidates and the Colorado House of Representatives District 58 candidates. The forum was livestreamed and is available on the City of Cortez website: www.cityofcortez.com

We would like to thank City Clerk Linda Smith, General Services administrative assistant Vickie Haddix, and Bill Kuhn from the IT department for their assistance in providing the livestreaming of the state-level candidate forum. Anyone can view the candidate forum by going to the city’s website. Click on City Council Live Stream, scroll down to Upcoming and Archived Videos, click on Special Meetings, and then click on League of Women Voters Candidate Forum.

We also express appreciation to the Four Corners Board of Realtors in providing publicity for this event. The Realtors have also helped to provide the ballot issue pamphlets that give the pros and cons on the 13 statewide issues on the ballot. The pamphlets are available at three public libraries, City Hall, County Clerk’s office, KSJD and many other locations.

Everyone working together made it possible for us to have a very informative forum for candidates for State Senate and House of Representatives. Don’t miss the article “Forum features state candidates” starting on the front page of The Journal on Oct. 16 by Jim Mimiaga. Voters need to make choices, and information on the state candidates is now available on the City of Cortez website and in The Journal. It is up to the individual to become informed.
