Initiative 195 calls for a graduated income tax in Colorado. If enough signatures are collected to qualify for the ballot, it will be assigned an amendment number and require a simple majority to pass.
Currently, TABOR requires all income to be taxed at the same rate. This amendment would reduce taxes for the 97% of Coloradans earning less than $500,000 a year while raising rates on individuals and corporations earning more – generating more than $2 billion per year earmarked for education, health care, and child care.
Initiative 195 petitions will be available at the No Kings Rally in Cortez Veterans Park on March 28. Visit the Montezuma County League of Women Voters table for more information and to sign the petition.
