Target Rental opens new shop in Cortez

Full-service shop offers construction equipment

Whether you’re building, landscaping, remodeling or repairing, the new Target Rental in Cortez has the construction equipment to get the job done.

The new shop on 5 acres is located at 1480 Industrial Road, just off Lebanon Road. The phone number is (970) 529-2400. Target has a staff of five with three new hires.

The rental fleet includes excavators, skid steers, man lifts, shooting boom forklifts, farm tractors and implements, cement mixers, ground thaw heaters, compaction equipment, and wood chippers.

Target also carries smaller rental equipment and rental tools for homeowners and remodelers, including concrete saws and breakers, air compressors, flooring tools, plumbing and electrical tools, landscaping equipment and scaffold equipment.

The shop sells a variety of construction and safety supplies and dispenses propane to contractors and weekend barbecuers.

“We are a full-service rental company and felt it was time to expand our footprint to Cortez,” said manager Steve Webb. “Our staff has deep roots in the community.”

Target also has a shop in Durango, and both routinely deliver rental equipment throughout the Four Corners area.

New customers at the Cortez location receive a 15% discount on their first rental.

“Our new site is very functional and has easy access for contractors and big trucks,” Webb said. “Our rental process is efficient because we know everyone is busy.”

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Webb has organized food drive from May 1-22 to help families. Target Rental will match $1 for every canned good or dollar donated up to $5,000.

“The working class is hurting right now, and we decided to help out,” Webb said.

In addition, the Cortez Target Rental plans to donate 15% of rental fees on one of their new excavators to a local charity. The organization’s logo would be put on the excavator.

Webb added that the business adheres to state guidelines to prevent the coronavirus. Staff wear facial masks, machines are disinfected before they go out and after they return, and the shop is regularly cleaned.

During the health emergency, the shop’s adjusted hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
