For the past several months, I have had the great pleasure to work with an enthusiastic group of people that have resurrected Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Montezuma and Dolores counties. The program had been suspended because of a lack of funds.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library provides an age-appropriate book each month to children from birth to their 5th birthday. The books are sent through the mail and addressed to each child. It is so much fun to think of being 3 years old and getting a new book in the mail each month! Knowing we are providing this experience for 477 kids in our community is wonderful to ponder.

An endowment fund has been created through Onward!, and we are in the process of raising money to fully fund the endowment so this program never runs out of money again. Thanks to donations from individuals, governmental agencies, grantors and businesses, we are about $30,000 away from raising the necessary money to fund this endowment in perpetuity.
