Students help raise homelessness awareness

Leadership skills are in full bloom in our county. Did you know that the School Community Youth Collaborative served 14 students in Montezuma and Dolores County in the High School Leadership Montezuma program during the 2013-2014 school years?

These amazing students created, planned, implemented and reflected on two service projects in our community. Students held a movie night, where they raised money and donated it to the Bridge Emergency Shelter as one project and continued working with the shelter by painting some of the walls as the second project.

The students in this program hoped by doing this they would raise awareness of the issue of homelessness in our community.

I just want to say that I am so proud of these students for taking on leadership roles at a young age and I look forward to watching them grow to be great leaders.

Also, thank you to these wonderful students for bringing this issue to the table for our community.
