Southern Ute Museum to receive totem pole

The Southern Ute Museum and Cultural Center announced it will receive the Lummi Nation Totem Pole to be put on display at its facility, 503 Ouray Drive, in Ignacio.

A reception to celebrate will be held at noon, followed by a community potluck. The event will feature speakers, including Pearl Casias, a Southern Ute elder and Tribal Council member; Jewell James, a House of Tears carver and Ute Mountain Ute Elders Committee member; and Shaun Chapoose, Ute Tribe Council Uncompahgre Band representative.

The event is free and open to all.
