Smithsonian archaeologist to speak at Fort Lewis College

Smithsonian anthropologist Douglas Owsley will speak at the Fort Lewis College Student Union Ballroom at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 15, preceded by a reception at 6:30 p.m.

Hosted by the San Juan Basin Archaeological Society, the FLC Anthropology Department and the Lifelong Learning Program, Owsley’s lecture “Forensic Investigation of the 17th Century Chesapeake: Colonial Jamestown and Historic St. Mary’s City,” will benefit the internship program at the FLC Center of Southwest Studies.

Tickets are available at the Durango Welcome Center, 802 Main Ave., at 970-247-7657, or at www.durangoconcerts.com, for $10, plus convenience fees. If still available, tickets may be purchased at the door starting at 5:30 p.m. for $12, cash or check only.
