Slash-pile burn planned for Dec. 22

The Journal

Conditions are good for favorable smoke dispersal this week for one more slash-pile burn this year on the Dolores Ranger District.

Fire crews plan to burn about 100 slash piles on 60 acres of National Forest lands in the Chicken Creek area on Thursday, Dec. 22.

The project will take place near the San Juan National Forest boundary where County Road 41 and Forest Road 385 merge about five miles north of Mancos. This will complete the district’s scheduled pile burning for 2016.
