Slash burning planned for Carlyle Point area

The Dolores Public Lands Office plans to burn slash piles beginning tomorrow on National Forest lands in the Carlyle Point area 8 miles north of Dolores off Forest Road 525.

Firefighters will ignite about 150 piles left over from a fuels-reduction project.

Operations will take place from mid-morning to mid-afternoon for optimum smoke dispersal. No road or trail closures are expected.

Firefighters may move to the Doe Canyon Area on Friday to continue slash burning in that area, depending upon conditions.
