Saturday, May 3 ​

8:51 a.m.: Responded to 27621 County Road H, Cortez, for a reported out-of-control burn that caught a power pole on fire. ​ The fire department extinguished the fire, and Empire Electric was contacted to assess damage to the pole. ​ The property owner admitted to burning the ditch without notifying authorities and was cited under a fire ordinance. ​ Court date set for June 4.

Saturday, May 10

2:12 a.m.: Responded to 730 E. Driscoll St., Cortez, for a report of protection order violations. A man was observed communicating with a protected person via video visits and messages. He was served with a summons and booked for violations. ​

Sunday, May 11 ​

9:07 a.m.: Responded to 14035 Road 36.7, Mancos, for a report of damaged property. ​ A man reported damage to two vehicles caused by BBs, possibly fired from a neighbor’s property. ​ Contact was made with a juvenile at the neighboring residence, but no further information was obtained.

Monday, May 19 ​

3:15 p.m.: Responded to 200 S. Eighth St., Cortez, for a report of protection order violations. A woman reported receiving threatening text messages from a man who is restrained from contacting her. ​ The protection order was confirmed, and the case was documented. ​

Thursday, May 22 ​

6:02 p.m.: Responded to 35303 U.S. Highway 160, Mancos, for a disturbance involving a domestic violence investigation. A man claimed two individuals took his girlfriend and dog, and one brandished a firearm. The girlfriend reported prior abuse by the man, who was arrested for domestic violence and assault. ​

Friday, May 23 ​

10:36 p.m.: Responded to 19646 Road 21.4, Lewis, for a report of a break-in. A woman reported two firearms stolen from a gun cabinet, possibly through a damaged door. ​ Photos were taken, and the woman stated she would provide additional information. ​

Saturday, May 25 ​

2:01 a.m.: Responded to 18680 Colorado Highway 145, Dolores, for a cabin fire. ​ A family escaped safely, and the fire department controlled the blaze. ​ The fire may have started from a campfire or an electrical outlet. ​ No foul play suspected. ​

Monday, May 26 ​

5:20 p.m.: Responded to Forest Service Road 259, Dolores, for a domestic violence report. A man and woman argued, and the woman admitted to throwing a chain saw into a fire. ​ She was arrested for criminal mischief and domestic violence. ​9

Tuesday, May 27

8:10 a.m.: Responded to 730 E. Driscoll St., Cortez, for a warrant service. ​ A woman arrested on an out-of-state warrant was advised of an additional warrant discovered during booking. ​ She was booked on both warrants. ​

Wednesday, May 28

12:02 a.m.: Conducted a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 160 for a vehicle with an unreadable license plate. ​ The driver was found to be driving without a valid license or insurance and was issued a summons. ​

2:54 p.m.: Responded to 6597 Road 24.2, Cortez, for a domestic violence report. A woman stated her ex-husband shoved her during an argument. ​ The man denied shoving her but was arrested based on visible injuries.

7:50 p.m.: Responded to 20991 U.S. Highway 491, Cortez, for a dog bite. A man reported being bitten by a dog while breaking up a fight between his dog and the stray. ​ The dog ran off, and the man stated he would call if it returned. ​

6:12 a.m.: Responded to 41783 Colorado Highway 184, Mancos, for a domestic violence report. ​ A woman claimed a man punched her, but no injuries were observed. ​ She was arrested for violating a protection order. ​

Thursday, May 29

10:43 a.m.: Responded to 865 N. Park St., Cortez, for a warrant service. A man was taken into custody and transported to the jail. ​

11:49 a.m.: Responded to 865 N. Park St., Cortez, for a remand to custody. A man was transported to the jail. ​

Friday, May 30

2:12 p.m.: Responded to 19000 County Road 21, Lewis, to assist Colorado State Patrol with a traffic stop. ​ A man was arrested for DUI, and his wife retrieved the vehicle. ​

9:47 p.m.: Responded to 730 E. Driscoll St., Cortez, for a fight between two female inmates. One inmate struck the other during an argument and was cited for harassment.

Saturday, May 31

2:13 a.m.: Responded to 728 S. Broadway, Cortez, to assist in locating a man who fled a domestic violence scene. The man was found hiding in a field and taken into custody. ​

10:08 a.m.: Responded to U.S. Highway 491 and Road L, Cortez, for a report of a woman thrown from a horse. The horse was spooked by a dog, causing the woman to fall and sustain serious injuries. ​ The dog owner was charged with unlawful ownership of a dangerous dog. ​

7:33 p.m.: Responded to 31065 Colorado Highway 184, Dolores, for a harassment report and warrant service. A woman was arrested on multiple active warrants. ​

Monday, June 2 ​

11:05 a.m.: Responded to 730 E. Driscoll St., Cortez, for a woman turning herself in. ​ She was taken into custody and booked on an active warrant. ​

2 p.m.: Responded to 730 E. Driscoll St., Cortez, for a warrant service. ​ A man already in custody was advised of his warrant. ​

Tuesday, June 3 ​

10:40 a.m.: Responded to 865 N. Park St., Cortez, for a remand to custody. ​ A woman was transported to the jail. ​
