6:38 a.m. A camper caught on fire in the 6000 block of Road 23.6 in Cortez. No humans were injured, though a dog did not make it out. It appeared to have ignited accidentally, and no suspicious activity is suspected.
6:53 p.m. Someone broke the back reargate window and rear passenger window of a parked car in the 300 block of Road G in Cortez. The car had been parked for a while and has a flat tire. There are no suspects, but there was dried blood found on the car. Total damages are estimated at $300.
4:20 p.m. A man was cited for third-degree criminal trespassing at Love’s Travel Stop, 7006 U.S. Highway 160.
1:48 p.m. A man with a warrant from Utah for violating parole was arrested in the 26000 block of Road L in Cortez and taken to the Montezuma County Detention Center.
9:57 a.m. A man was cited with harassment in the 100 block of Road 41 in Mancos for calling a woman more than 150 times after she made a political Facebook post. He shouted obscenities at her and played parts of President Donald Trump’s former speeches.
3:14 p.m. A man with a warrant was taken into custody at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
4:09 p.m. A woman was remanded to custody at the Montezuma Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St.
5:12 p.m. A woman accused a man of stealing her blue Motorola phone in the 24000 block of Road N in Cortez. He had been arrested for something else and the phone was in his property at the jail. Authorities were unable to determine who actually owned it, so he wasn’t cited with theft.
1:45 a.m. A man with three warrants, two of which were felonies, was arrested in the 10000 block of Road 29. He had been walking in the middle of the county road when authorities found him.
4:12 p.m. A woman driving a rental vehicle was pulled over for driving with expired plates at the intersection of East Empire and North Ash Streets. She was cited for failing to provide proof of insurance.
8:32 a.m. A woman with five warrants turned herself into the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St. She was cited with DUI, careless driving and more.
9:02 a.m. A man in the 18000 block of Road Z in Yellow Jacket filed a report for multiple fraudulent purchases on his credit card made between September 2024 and February totaling over $1,100.
12:50 p.m. Five individuals broke into a physical fight over a sandwich at Veterans Park in Cortez, 830 E. Main St. One individual was cited with domestic violence and taken into custody. Two smelled of alcohol.
6:48 a.m. A woman claimed that a man had pointed a gun at her at the Ute Mountain Casino, 3 Weeminuche Drive in Towaoc. Camera footage showed that did not happen.
12:16 p.m. A man was cited with third-degree criminal trespass when he visited a property he had been evicted from in the 6000 block of Road 41 in Mancos. He was caught on camera showing the property to potential buyers.
