Sunday, March 31

1:29 a.m. A deputy took a report for a vehicle without a license plate at 7006 U.S. Highway 160. According to the report, the deputy was told by the woman selling the vehicle that she reported the vehicle stolen for two months in 2023 by a woman who was working on it, who also removed the VIN numbers and replaced them with another vehicles VIN. The owner of the vehicle and the deputy could not locate the correct VIN for the vehicle, resulting in the towing of the vehicle for lack of proof of ownership by registration, and having no valid VIN.

11:17 a.m. A deputy took a report for suspicious activity in the 31000 block of Road P.

Saturday, April 13

6:30 p.m. A deputy took a report for fraud from a woman who was at the Cortez Animal Shelter, 2791 E. Main St. to pick up a puppy. The woman reported sending $150 in Apple gift cards to a veterinarian named Dr. James she met on a Facebook yard sale group for a puppy listing. The woman also reported she sent $4,000 to a celebrity to help pay his bills and gave him access to her AT&T account so he could order an iPad and iPhone that she eventually sent to an address in Florida.

Sunday, April 14

6:18 a.m. A deputy took a report from a woman at 27121 Road T for vehicle damage. The woman reported her window being broken and tires slashed. The woman also reported missing two gold necklaces, an Apple Watch, another watch, and a subwoofer from her vehicle.

Monday, April 15

9 a.m. A man at 34950 Road J. 7 reported a 300 Remington Rifle, a 4570 Rolling bloc Sharps rifle, a Smith & Wesson .45 pistol, and a Glock 19 9 mm as stolen from his camper trailer.

3 p.m. A deputy took a report from a woman in the 22000 block of Road N, who wanted to press charges against her brother for taking items recovered from a witness and for breaking into her home.

Tuesday, April 16

1:40 p.m. A woman reported various items stolen from her home in the 20900 block of U.S. 491.

6:15 p.m. A deputy arrested a man who was remanded by the Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St. and transported him to the Montezuma County Detention Center.

7:25 p.m. A deputy took a report from a woman in the 11000 block of Road 24.4 for domestic violence. The officer received written witness statements from two people corroborating the woman’s report. The deputy reported making a request for a warrant for the suspect under charges of harassment and domestic violence.

10:08 p.m. A deputy took a report for an interagency assist for a vehicle crash at 16500 Colorado Highway 145. The officer reported both vehicles had trapped occupants in them at the scene of the crash, and one of the drivers was suspected of being under the influence by the Colorado State Patrol trooper investigating the scene. The deputy reported obliging the troopers request of transporting the driver to the hospital and to request the driver to perform voluntary roadside maneuvers. The man was cleared of any suspicion and requested the deputy transport his dog to the care of his daughter while he received medical care, which he obliged.

Wednesday, April 17

4:26 a.m. A deputy took a report for an agency assist request from the BIA Tribal Police in Towaoc. The deputy reported providing security detail while BIA officers investigated the area of 477 Reservoir Drive. The deputy reported that BIA officers arrested a man and found a car with bullet holes in the roof and through the windshield.

9:10 a.m. A deputy arrested a man on two warrants who was turning himself into the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

9:19 p.m. A deputy took a report for a hit-and-run from a man whose car was backed into by a woman who reportedly works at the Montezuma Mexican Restaurant, 1319 Railroad Ave.

9:40 p.m. A deputy served a warrant to a man in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

Monday, April 22

1:08 p.m. A deputy arrested a woman on a warrant who was remanded by the Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., and transported her to the Montezuma County Detention Center.
