6:26 p.m. A man was pulled over near the intersection of Merritt Way and Fourth Street. He was issued a summons for driving with a revoked license and for not having his vehicle licence plate clearly visible.

Saturday, Jan. 17

6:38 p.m. An deputy was called to the 30000 block of Road P for the report of a deer that had been injured on the road. When the deputy arrived, he saw the deer in the road, which was unable to stand and had multiple injuries and broken bones. The deputy used his handgun and fired a single shot to the back of the deer’s head, putting it out of its misery.

8:15 p.m. An accident was reported just past the intersection of County Roads 30 and L. When the deputy arrived, he observed a vehicle in the ditch and the woman driving had slurred speech. The woman failed roadside maneuver tests and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Sunday, Jan. 18

9:56 a.m. A person living on Road S reported that her mailbox had been “flattened,” that it had happened before, and she believed a group of males was damaging mailboxes in multiple locations in the county. The woman said it was the third time her mailbox had been flattened.

Monday, Jan. 19

2:39 a.m. A 19-year-old was arrested after a deputy observed him driving on Railroad Avenue on the wrong side of the road. After being pulled over and asked what he was doing, the man said he was just trying to impress his friends. The deputy asked dispatch to check the man’s background, and it was determined he had an active warrant for failure to comply out of Montezuma County. The man was arrested.

Tuesday, Jan. 20

9:08 a.m. A young man was pulled over on Road G for speeding. When the deputy approached him, he could smell marijuana. After the deputy searched the man’s vehicle, the young man was issued a summons for illegal possession or consumption by an underage person.
