Wednesday, Jan. 4

1:47 a.m., An employee of Speedway, 501 Railroad Ave., reported a woman tried to buy alcohol with meth after he refused the sale because it was closing time. The employee also reported that the woman left with three items without paying.

Thursday, Jan. 5

5:56 p.m., A woman in the 600 block of Mountain Sage Road reported that her boyfriend had become agitated after drinking and kicked down their front door when she took her kids away and left. The man was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and criminal mischief.

Thursday, Jan. 12

8:58 a.m., A woman in the 26700 block of Road M reported that people have driven up her driveway to access a nearby property and, while turning around, have damaged her property. An officer suggested she put up signage to alert people and prevent them from accessing her property.

Saturday, Jan. 14

11:28 a.m., A woman backing out of parking spot at 520 Railroad Ave. was cited after hitting a car parked next to her car.

Wednesday, Jan. 18

3:19 p.m., A man in Indiana reported that a woman from Dolores harassed him online. An officer advised the man to contact his local law enforcement.

Thursday, Jan. 19

8:43 a.m., A woman reported damage on her car that she believes came from a hit-and-run when her car was parked at 202 S. Fourth St., Dolores the day before.

Friday, Jan. 20

9:14 a.m., A truck was parked in the roadway of the 11000 block of Road 25. The owner was contacted and inspected the vehicle, determining that a tow truck would be needed.

Saturday, Jan. 21

12:54 p.m., A man in the drive-thru of Taco Bell, 1300 E. Main St., was reported as drunk. The Cortez Police Department was first to arrive and the man told them he was drunk and wanted to go to jail. Empty alcohol containers were found on the man and in his truck. The man was cited for drunken driving, possessing an open container in a vehicle and driving under restriction.

Monday, Jan. 23

7:54 a.m., A man in custody at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., asked to speak with a sergeant. The man was told someone would speak with him soon, which caused the man to become agitated and throw food trays around the day room. A deputy Tased the man, who later said he was upset because his food tray had apples on it. The man was on a special order to not receive apples. A deputy did give the inmate a tray with apples but swapped it out promptly.

11:15 a.m., A truck in the 20000 block of Road G was reported in a ditch. An officer found the truck, then tracked the driver by his boot prints 200 yards west of the truck. The man identified himself as the driver, and the investigation was handed over to Colorado State Patrol.

Tuesday, Jan. 24

5:36 a.m., An officer served a warrant to a man in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

12:11 p.m., A woman reported a car in the 6400 block of Road 23.6 as possibly belonging to a friend of her daughter. The friend’s car had been reported stolen on Feb. 13, 2022. An officer found the car stuck in the mud just of the corner of the roadway. The car was verified as the friend’s stolen car.

10:55 p.m., An SUV was reported stuck in the median in the 200 block of South Ninth Street. The man driving had attempted to make a right-hand turn onto South Ninth Street and ran up onto the snowbank in the median. The man was attempting to dig himself out with another man’s help. An officer discovered the man was allowed to drive only with an Interlock Breathalyzer device, and the Suburban did not have one. The man asked for a blood draw to be performed to satisfy the Colorado express consent requirements. The man was issued summons and released after his blood draw.

Wednesday, Jan. 25

9:30 a.m., A car that had been abandoned in the parking lot of Dolores High School, 1301 Central Ave., was set up to be towed on Thursday, Jan. 26. The car was identified as owned by a health care service in Saint Louis. The school’s footage from Dec. 31 at 3:31 p.m. shows a man parking the car next to a gold minivan that he then drove off down Railroad Avenue. The van and man could not be identified.

9:40 a.m., A man at the bonding window of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., turned himself in on a failure to appear warrant.

9:19 p.m., A woman at the bonding window of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., turned himself in on a failure to comply warrant.

Thursday, Jan. 26

4:20 p.m., A report was made for man trespassing at the Dolores Public Library, 1002 Railroad Ave. The man reportedly after speaking with a librarian went into the parking lot and removed a handicap parking sign claiming it was not up to American with Disabilities Act standards. The man was issued a trespass notice and left without incident.

4:50 p.m., A woman in an argument with her brother in the 12000 block of Road 26 escalated, and she slapped him in the face. The brother hit the woman in the head, and a man hit the brother in the back of the head with an object and put him in a chokehold. The sibling’s mother broke up the fight, and the brother left. No one requested to have charges pursued.

Wednesday, Jan. 27

1:40 a.m., A man was reported pacing and screaming in the roadway in the 200 block of Central Avenue. An officer arrived and questioned the man’s mother, who stated the man was upset as earlier in the night his girlfriend had been arrested. The officer attempted to talk to the man in the kitchen when the man started punching dishes sending shattered glass flying. The officer pulled out his firearm believe the man was grabbing a knife. The officer switched to his Taser when it became clear the man was not reaching for a knife. The man then stated he was the aggressor in the situation that resulted in his girlfriend’s arrest and the injuries from the incident were self-inflicted. The man was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct.

Sunday, Jan. 29

11:35 a.m., A man driving in the 26000 block of Road 27 turned east onto Road H without stopping. The man was pulled over and was identified as having a failure to appear warrant. A Breathalyzer indicated the man had alcohol in his system. When asked to perform roadside maneuvers the man stated he knew he was going to be arrested so he had drank an entire bottle of alcohol right after he had been pulled over. The man was arrested on the warrant and on suspicion of driving while under restraint.

Monday, Jan. 30

8:40 a.m., An officer observed a Colorado State Patrol traffic stop in the 23000 block of U.S. Highway 491. The State Patrol arrested the driver on suspicion of drunken driving, and the officer gave the passenger a courtesy ride to Super 8, 505 E. Main St.

10:44 a.m., A man requested a dog trap to be set on his property in the 41000 block of Colorado Highway 184. The man requested the trap as another man in the area had been bit by a dog. The officer contacted the man who was bit. The man stated he did not get bit, but his dog was attacked by another dog on Jan. 21 about 4 a.m. A trap was placed on the property, but no dog has been trapped at the time of the report.

2:45 p.m., A man in custody of the Montezuma County Combine Courts, 865 N. Park St., was remanded into custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
