Runners take off down the Hawkins Preserve path Saturday morning on a fun run to benefit the Cortez Animal Shelter. Mesa Elementary sponsored the run, which raised $388 plus lots of dog and cat goodies and cleaning supplies for the shelter. There were 84 runners for the 1.5 mile race.
